Bethany Barber is an international performing artist with a thirst for expanding her horizons. She was born and raised in America, but lives in Cologne, Germany. She trained classically, earning her doctorate in vocal performance with Sylvia McNair at the prestigious Indiana University Jacobs School of Music as an opera singer, but spends most of her time singing everything from musicals to jazz, Mozart to Madonna, and everything in between. Some of her favorite roles and gigs have included the Witch in Sondheim’s Into the Woods, The Queen of the Night in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Queen Gertrude in Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Cher in a Cher tribute band, singing and dancing in variety shows on cruise ships and all over Germany, and crooning jazz standards late into the night.
She never did find her “niche” like they told her to in the conservatory, but instead discovered that her true passion lies in exploring the riches of as many different genres as possible and appreciating the unique artistry in each of them. Her voice has been described as “crystal clear”, “very expressive and wonderfully in tune” and “extremely worth listening to.” She strives to bring her own particular brand of flexibility, fun and professionalism to every style of music she approaches and to share her love of music in all its incarnations with her audiences.
